Born in Kampala in 1986, Damulira Siraj `Shira’ is a graduate of Margaret Trowell School of art, Makerere University, where he pursued a bachelors majoring in painting and sculpture.
He is a product of what he calls “imperfect art” where he clarifies that imperfection is utmost perfection. In his paintings he takes keen interest in ordinary life particularly “congestions” in Africa with his simple figurative content detail, from which his figures are famously known for being “faceless”. He paints spontaneously rendering uncertain outline which he proclaims is a “healing tool”.
